Mid Century Modern West Elm Style...

Love these styles of mid century dressers!
Although, most of them have formica tops.
I could refinish like restore in a dark walnut stain
even with formica tops, but this one was too damaged.
The original finish didn't strip properly.
We went over it 3 times with stripper.  Then sanded it.
Looks good on the picture below all stripped and prepped.
But once stained it would've looked blotchy.
I don't like when stained pieces look blotchy.
Blotchy is an uneven look once stained.
You usually get that from not stripping or sanding properly.
Either you sanded too rough or too light.   You have to have a
gentle touch when sanded to restore.
This one wasn't having it.

I was throwing around tons of ideas on how to design it.
I finally (at the last minute!) deciding on stained drawers
with the rest painted.

I painted it black with dark walnut stained drawers.
The drawers stripped good and I couldn't let that
beautiful wood grain go to waste.

Sealed everything is a matte finish.

Added new modern matte black pulls.

The transformation from before is outstanding!
