Updated Vintage 50s Mid Century Dresser ...

These vintage mid century modern dressers from the
early 1950s are my favorite mcms to update.
This particular one was a customers choice order.

Her daughter picked the color and hardware.

We repaired all the scratches and missing/loose veneer.
Sealed in the older hardware holes.
Then sanded it down.

Made the new hardware holes.
Primed it, then painted it all in Benjamin Moore plain white.

Sealed in a stain finish.

Added the new white modern hardware.

The before and after is why I love my job!

Mid Century Modern Desk...

I think some mid century pieces really can stand out
on their own with no paint.  This particular one I felt wasn't one
of those pieces.
Which is why I decided to paint it.

I wanted a two tone look and with this design
it had a few ideas on how I could do that.
I stained the top trim, drawers, and legs in cappuccino.

Painted the body in black.  Added new modern black knobs.

Painted the metal tips on the legs in black.

Sealed everything in a matte finish.

Not many desks have backs that can be painted.

This one did, so I painted the back also.
It gives an option of using it with the back facing out.

Before and after!

Mid Century Dresser

I forgot to take a before photo of this.  I don't know why but,
it completely slipped my mind.  I thought I did, so you can
imagine how frustrated I was when I didn't find it in my photo roll.
Anyway, this is vintage form the late 1970s in a mid century
style.  We repaired all the missing chipped veneer.
Which was mostly on the bottom edges.  more so on the right edges than left.

Stripped everything down.

Here is where you can see the filling in on veneer.
We had to add a ton of filler.  But we built it back up to
make the side even.

Painted the body a light gray and stained the wood
slats in cappuccino.

Sealed everything in a matte finish.

I so wish I had taken a before!  Oh well either way it looks
so much better!
